Failure Is Great!

3:04 pm Random General Brainstormed Thoughts!

Or Not. I mean Failure… is great or can be great if you put it into the right perspective. In my last post I mentioned how I had a feww ideas to try, and I was motivated enough to actually give it a shot. well, the first one I attempted, failed meserably.
I basically had three ideas that sound great on paper, so I decided tto knock them out as quickly as possible so I can tell if their viable or not.

I began with the one I thought would be easiest to test. I was right… took less than a day, and complete and uter failure. So what was this magical money making failure?

Method #3: Y.I.M.
Y.I.M basically stands for… Yahoo Income Method. Which is also a play on Yahoo Instant Messenger… because… you guessed it, that is the medium used to gather cash… or was supposed to be.

BAsially what it involves is using software I purcased to () gather Yahoo Id’s (b) mass spam the shit out of them in hopes some of them sign up for a dating offer or a fee CPA email submit offer ($500 dollar gift card).

Neither worked.
I used IIM to create the Yahoo accounts needed (bots) and:
Maximum number of bots you can create per day is 50.
If we create all 50, we can send 5,000 messages no problem… or so I thought
Interesting to note that it may be possible that bots are banned for spam…. So more might need to be created instead of re-using old ones

It is fascinating to send much more though….. so I did.

1st Test: 1,098 ID (online) sent, 2 clicks, 0 dating conversions
2nd test 5,736 IDs (online & offline) sent, 16 clicks, 0 “free gift card” conversions

So er…. Wow. This is a catastrophic failure.
Now…. Under any marketing circumstance, we never really expect untargeted traffic to convert well at all. But 16 clicks out of nearly 6 thousand IMs sent is pathetic. So what could have gone wrong?

Hell if I know.
The firs thing is not all people were online at the time the PMs are sent. Secondly, not all the responses yo’ll get will be received at that time… some people will log in later and see the PM and perhaps respond, or report you as spam, or ignore it 

Either way, I am very disappointed, but that’s the way it goes. If this had worked like I hoped, it would have been a great easy way to make some extra money without having to use any brain cells… alas it isn’t to be.

Funny enough I know there must be people making money with it because I do get spammed for dating offers to my Yahoo Instant Messenger constantly.

Goes to show.. some people have the midas touch with some techniques and some people don’t. Time to move on to the next I guess.
So which to do next? My other choices are
1. N.T.T.
2. S.L.F.
I’m trying to decide which has less likelihood for failure and which should take less time to test. N.T.T. is more automatic, but requires a lot of time to set up, while S.L.F. may require less time, (because I already had most of it automated with SEO macros), it may take a while to see results…. I’ll probably flip a coin, though honestly I’m more anxious to see result of SLF because its an integral part of my site building strategy.
